The Gay & Lesbian Center hires a hotshot fund-raiser, Jeffrey Pendergrass, to organize the Liberty Ride to benefit Liberty House, an AIDS hospice. To kick off the event, Pendergrass stages a lavish party at Babylon, where he meets prominent gay business owner Brian. The next day, Jeffrey appears at Kinnetik, where he tries to blackmail Brian into enlisting his clients as corporate sponsors. Bristling at Jeffrey’s arrogant aggressiveness, Brian does a background check, which reveals that Pendergrass’ fees are notoriously excessive and have even resulted in litigation by other AIDS organizations. Confronted in his opulent hotel suite by Brian, Pendergrass becomes irate and defensive. The next morning, he resigns and leaves Pittsburgh with the money collected to date, plunging Liberty House into financial turmoil.
After some initial embarrassment on Drew Boyd’s part, the Brown Athletics underwear photo shoot goes well. Ted, who chose Drew for the campaign, receives complimentary tickets to see Drew’s team, the Pittsburgh Ironmen, play on Sunday. At the diner, Ted invites Emmett, who has been raving about how sexy Drew is, but without revealing the nature of their relationship. Debbie asks Ted for a pair of tickets so that she can ask Detective Horvath, whom she is trying to win back, to attend.
On Sunday, Ted, Emmett, Debbie and Horvath watch the game from a luxury skybox, where Drew’s fiancée, Sierra, is also sitting. Emmett tries unsuccessfully to sneak out without her seeing him. She insists that Emmett, Ted, Debbie and Horvath accompany her to the locker room. Later, when Drew fails to show up at the motel where he and Emmett have sex on a regular basis, Emmett assumes that Drew is angry at him for being at the game. Emmett tells Ted, who is highly skeptical at first, the truth about Drew.
Sam stops by Lindsay and Melanie’s house to say goodbye to Lindsay before leaving for Italy. Walking him to his car, Lindsay rejects his offer to go with him, asserting that her choice is to be with Melanie. But Melanie eavesdrops on the conversation. When Lindsay returns to the house, Melanie confronts her, telling her that now she is unsure whether she wants to be with Lindsay.
When Hunter is late for his curfew, Ben and Michael fear he has returned to hustling. He tells Michael that he is seeing someone, and Ben and Michael assume that Hunter has a boyfriend. When he tells them that he has a girlfriend, Michael wonders whether Hunter would be better off with straight foster parents.
