Michael becomes upset about Ben’s ongoing meetings with Anthony. After learning that Anthony is a “bug chaser” - an HIV-negative person who deliberately has unprotected sex with HIV-positive guys to contract the disease, either as a form of suicide, or as a way to stop worrying about the inevitability of catching HIV - Ben tries to convince Anthony to abandon his dangerous plan. But when Ben rejects Anthony’s request to give him “the gift” of HIV, Anthony engages in unsafe sex with other guys. Ben is inspired by Anthony’s story to start working on a new novel.
Brian tells Ted to find a sexy sports figure to be an underwear model in ads for Kinnetik’s client Brown Athletics. Emmett recommends his new sex buddy, football player Drew Boyd, for the lucrative job, but he keeps the details of their relationship a secret from Ted.
Lindsay misses the opening of Sam Auerbach’s art exhibit, which she organized, to avoid dealing with her sexual attraction to the painter. When she goes to the gallery after hours, Sam is still there. He and Lindsay make love in the deserted gallery.
Debbie meets Brian’s mother, Joan, in church and suggests that she contact her son. When Brian and his mother meet, she tells him that his cancer is God’s punishment for his immoral behavior.
