While undergoing his first radiation treatment, Brian has a nightmare involving Uncle Vic as a mad scientist. The treatment leaves Brian too weak to work, and he asks Ted to attend a presentation with the father and son owners of Dandy Lube, a chain of auto maintenance centers. A nervous Ted nearly loses the account. But Kinnetik employee Cynthia urges Ted to follow the son into the men’s room and do what Brian would to obtain the account. Ted drags the son into a broom closet for some quick sex and wins Dandy Lube as a client.
Michael and Justin each receive a $10,000 cheque from Hollywood, while Ben receives his 25th rejection letter for his second novel. Michael buys Ben a new computer, which Ben rejects as a consolation prize motivated by pity. At the university library, Ben encounters a former student, Anthony, who loved Ben’s first novel and asks to read the latest manuscript. Anthony praises Ben’s latest literary opus, and the two go for coffee to discuss it.
In desperate need of a replacement chef for his party-planning business, Emmett persuades Darren Ealy to accept the job. Catering an engagement party for football player Drew Boyd and his girlfriend, Sierra, Emmett and Darren hear Drew refer to them as “a couple of flamers” to his jock friends. Emmett pulls Drew aside and accuses him of being unmanly for not making the comment directly to the caterers. Later, when Emmett returns to pick up a check and his catering equipment, Drew offers him a beer. While chatting, Drew suddenly tackles Emmett, pinning him on the floor. Drew rolls him over on his stomach, then pulls Emmett’s pants down and has sex with the stunned but submissive Emmett.
Meanwhile, after Michael explains to Justin why Brian doesn’t want to see him, Justin goes to the loft to nurse Brian. Debbie learns that Detective Horvath is seeing another woman. And Lindsay and Sam Auerbach’s flirtatious banter leads to a lingering embrace that seems to arouse her.
