Brian’s father announces he has cancer, prompting Brian to tell his father he is gay. His father gets very upset and says Brian should be dying instead. Later, his father comes to apologize and Brian introduces him to Gus.
Lindsay has to go to a teacher’s conference while Melanie is out of town, so she leaves Gus with Brian. An upset Brian ignores his responsibilities and leaves Gus with Justin while he goes to the leather ball. Melanie comes over and is very upset when she finds Gus alone with Justin. Brian realizes he is a bad father, just like his father and decides to be better.
David’s son, Hank, comes to visit, and Michael is very apprehensive. When David is called away, Michael and Hank are left alone, and Michael soon discovers Hank isn’t upset because his father is gay, he’s upset because David puts too much pressure on the weekend by planning every minute of his son's visit. Michael explains Hank's displeasure to David.
Ted runs into a very successful college friend. He later sees him at the Leather Ball, where he learns that his friend is Mr. Sado-Masochist. The friend tells Ted, he’s too predictable and he should be more adventurous and try sado-masochism. Ted, convinced he’s boring, decides to try a new fetish.
