Michael introduces Justin to his waitress mother, Debbie (series star SHARON GLESS), who offers compassion and meals at the local diner.
Later, Michael, an assistant manager at Q Mart, gets invited to meet some co-workers for a drink, including Tracy (recurring guest star LINDSEY CONNELL), a woman who is attracted to him. Because he hides his homosexuality in his professional life, he must submit to the group date that night or risk being discovered.
Brian becomes angry when he learns that Lindsay and her life partner, Melanie (series star MICHELLE CLUNIE), want to purchase a million-dollar insurance policy on him for the baby. In need of moral support, Brian rescues Michael from his date, and they go out drinking, only to find that Justin has discovered their whereabouts. Brian runs out of the bar, but Justin eventually finds him at his apartment, where he is about to have sex with someone he just met over the Internet. Brian explains that he does not commit to relationships; he seeks only sex. Heartbroken, Justin finally leaves Brian alone.
