Using a form for married couples, Michael and Ben try to cross the Canadian border back into the United States to finish the Liberty Ride, but a customs agent insists that, since their marriage is not recognized in America, they fill out individual documents, infuriating Debbie.

At an overnight stop during the cycling event, Brian brings in a wedding cake, champagne and a klezmer band to give newlyweds Ben and Michael a proper wedding reception. The next day, Brian fractures a clavicle after he takes a fall while showing off for a sexy fellow rider. Brian refuses to drop out of the race, even though he only has one useful arm. Ted and Emmett take a detour so that Ted, who’s experiencing severe anxiety, can attend a 12-step meeting, but they end up getting lost. The next morning, the Liberty Ride participants happen to pass by, and Ted and Emmett rejoin them.

Meanwhile, Melanie goes into labor. With Lindsay by her side, Melanie endures 14 hours of labor before giving birth to a beautiful baby, Jenny Rebecca. When it’s time for Lindsay to leave, reconciliation hangs in the air, but neither of the women will let down her guard.

Ben, Hunter, Emmett and Ted finally reach Pittsburgh, while Michael and the injured Brian arrive hours after the other cyclists. Justin, who has returned from Hollywood after getting a “green light” for “Rage,” is waiting at the finish line. The ride generates $432,000 for Liberty House, whose name Brian convinces the Gay & Lesbian Center to change to the Vic Grassi House. The entire gang, including Rodney, attends the building’s rededication, and Debbie tearfully thanks Brian for his beautiful gesture.

Brian has a dream set in Babylon, where he dances with Vic, who confides that God is gay. When Brian awakens, he asks Justin to move back into the loft. Justin says he’s been waiting for a long time to hear Brian utter those words, but he does not tell Brian about accepting Brett Keller’s offer to work as an assistant art director on “Rage”.

When Carl Horvath tells Debbie she can have any kind of wedding she wants, she tells him she cannot marry him as long as gay people are not equally free to marry in the United States. Carl is disappointed until Debbie suggests that they live together “in sin” in the meantime.
