Begged by Michael, Ted and Emmett to perform at a charity fund-raiser, drag queen Divina Devore (Tony Award winner GARY BEACH) consents, but only after realizing that, as Danny Devore, she dated Debbie in high school. Michael bears a strong resemblance to Danny in an old yearbook photo, but Debbie angrily denies that Danny fathered Michael. When Michael confronts Divina, she tells Michael that Debbie provided him with the kind of father that a young boy could admire. And although Debbie randomly selected Lieutenant John Michael Novotny, a Vietnam War hero, from a newspaper story and changed her own surname to complete her fabrication, Michael chooses to accept the story his mother has always told him.
Positive that Gus’ rejection by a prospective preschool stems from antigay bias, Lindsay and Melanie ask Brian to attend the next school interview - with Lindsay and Brian posing as Mr and Mrs Kinney. Brian agrees, but admission is again denied to Gus, who loses out to a child of same-sex parents. And when Justin’s father cuts off his son’s college tuition money, Justin becomes a stripper at Babylon to pay for school. Disappointed with his first night’s earnings, Justin submits to his boss’ subtle sexual advances in order to make more cash.
